Boots appoints Claire Nevinson as superintendent pharmacist

Boots has appointed Claire Nevinson to the position of superintendent pharmacist, it was announced yesterday.

Ms Nevinson has held a variety of roles with the multiple over 26 years, most recently working as deputy superintendent of prescribing and innovation for the past two years.

She replaces Marc Donovan, who after seven years as superintendent as taking up a policy and public affairs role within the company. Both will be reporting to Boots healthcare director Jamie Kerruish.

Ms Nevinson will be responsible for “all matters relating to patient safety” and provide professional leadership to Boots pharmacists and their teams, the company said.

She said it was “an honour and a privilege to be appointed as superintendent pharmacist for Boots,” adding: “Our pharmacy teams work hard to provide exceptional care to patients every day in their communities and I am incredibly proud to represent them in my new role”.

Mr Kerruish said: “The superintendent pharmacist role is an essential and iconic position within Boots, and I have every confidence in her ability to lead our pharmacy team members as community pharmacy plays an ever greater role in primary care.”

The appointment forms part of a wider shake up within the Boots leadership team, with former stores director Anne Higgins taking on the role of pharmacy director from Asif Aziz. The company has not yet issued an announcement on Ms Higgins' replacement.
